* Giving something back
We got the 'giving bug' back in 2008. When Tom and I got married we had already been living together for a year or so, and were lucky to have most things that we needed at that time. One of our friends was receiving treatment in Exeter for Leukemia and Tom had used the services of the Devon Air Ambulance, and we live in Cornwall. We decided then that we would like to support those charities. Instead of receiving wedding gifts, we asked for donations - so that we could in turn give it all to charity.
We split the money between the three, 50% went to E.L.F. 25% to Devon Air Ambulance and 25% to Cornwall Air Ambulance. They received a total of £2,625.15 between them.
Since creating Atlantic Rest we have wanted to support local environmentally friendly projects when we can.
To date we have given money to support the following:
2017 - Bude Community Orchard at Neetside - £50 for planting a 'Cornish Gilliflower' apple tree
2018 - Bude ReFill Station tap on the Triangle - £75
2019 - ReFill Shop - £500 for their nut butter machine
2020 - Hosting of the Cornwall Bereavement Network website which I manage at present for the network
2020 - Bude Toy Library - £250
2021 - The Woodland Trust - £65 (£5 for each memorial tree planted)
2022 - Eastcott Defibrillator fund - £250
2022 - The Woodland Trust - £30 (£5 for each memorial tree planted)
We can't always guarantee to be able to give something, but we like to do something each year if we can. Please get it touch if you know of an environmentally friendly project that we may be able to contribute too.
