Atlantic Rest Natural Burial

Long Term Site Management

To ensure the long term maintenance of this site a set sum of money from each burial plot occupied is placed in a ring-fenced maintenance fund.

The proceeds in this fund will be used to carry out the ongoing maintenance year on year once the site is full.  The earlier years of the site maintenance involved grazing by animals (sheep) and topping the grass to encourage wild flowers.  We are now creating more of a wild flower meadow in the area that was being grazed.

As the site evolves and more trees are present we will be able to commence a coppicing regime.  This will create a varied environment that will allow wildlife to thrive.

When the site is full (which will be a very long way off), it will become a woodland nature reserve, that we hope will be enjoyed by many.  It may also become an educational resource, as families return to visit during the different seasons.
