Burial ground in Cornwall receives People’s Awards Regional Winner for best natural burial ground in the south west

Atlantic Rest Natural Burial in Cornwall has won The People’s Awards Regional Winner 2026 for the best natural burial ground in the south west.
Awarded by The Association of Natural Burial Grounds, winners are selected based on the feedback and experiences of families from around the UK who have buried loved ones at a natural burial site.
Scooping The People’s Awards Regional Winner for the second year in a row, judges highlighted the glowing feedback that praised Atlantic Rest Natural Burial for its peaceful location, outstanding customer service and the overall kindness of its staff.
Sheridon Rosser, co-founder of Atlantic Rest Natural Burial – which is based in Morwenstow near Bude, on the Cornwall-Devon Border – said: ‘It is always an honour when someone chooses to rest with us at Penlow Field.
‘And the gratitude expressed to us for creating Atlantic Rest is always a surprise, but it affirms the fact that there is a growing desire to leave the world with the smallest carbon footprint possible.
‘To be recognised for a second year running with this wonderfully unique award is hard to put into words! But we pride ourselves on offering a personal experience to each family that we help – and this recognition is a testament to that.’
The People’s Awards are held annually by the Association of Natural Burial Grounds (ANBG), which is run by The Natural Death Charity.
On being part of the ANBG, Sheridon commented: ‘Membership of the ANBG gives us a wealth of experience to draw upon if we ever need to. We’ve been proud members for almost 15 years, which makes this award even more of an achievement – it reminds us of how far we’ve come in providing this service to our local community.’
A family who recently buried a loved one at Atlantic Rest Natural Burial, said: ‘Sheridon and the team at Atlantic Rest do an incredible job. They make a somewhat taboo subject feel so much less scary. Their words, location and all-round kindness have made such a difficult time for our family that little bit lighter – I cannot thank them enough.’
The site at Atlantic Rest Natural Burial occupies three acres of peaceful Cornish countryside, with a sweeping wildflower meadow and adjacent woodland area.
When the site reaches capacity in the long-term future, it will become a woodland nature reserve to be enjoyed for generations to come, with families able to visit each year and observe the changing of seasons.
